Below is a list of the most frequently asked questions: from preparing to travel, your studies and questions related to the school.
What is the age of the students?
Rimini Academy accepts students from the age of 14. For adults there is no age limit. The average age of students during summer is 22/25, in autumn and winter the average age is 30.
Which countries are the students from?
We have students from over 30 different countries. This gives you the opportunity to form friendships with people of many different nationalities and cultures.
Does the school have teachers who speak other languages apart from Italian?
Yes. We have teachers who speak English, German, Spanish, French and Russian.
Can I attend the school even if I don’t speak any Italian?
Yes. We offer courses at all levels, including absolute beginners.
Is it possible to do the Italian level test online?
The Italian level test is done on the first day of school, before the lessons begin. If you would prefer to do the test before your arrival at school we can send you a copy via e-mail.
Where is the school located?
The school is located in the centre of Rimini, in via Michelangelo Tonti 21/a, close to the train station and a short walk from the historical centre of the city. Rimini Academy is in the university district, a lively area where there are numerous shops, restaurants and bars.
How many students are in each class?
There is a maximum of 12 students in each class. In summer the average is 7 or 8 students per class. In the winter months the classes average 4 or 5 students.
At what time do classes start and finish?
Group lessons are from 9am to 1pm, Monday to Friday. Individual lessons are in the afternoon from 2pm to 6pm. Each hour of lessons has a duration of 50 minutes.
What do I need to bring to the classroom?
You will need the textbook, an exercise book, pens and a dictionary.
How can I improve my Italian outside of the classroom?
To continue speaking Italian after lessons it is important to stay with an Italian family. In this way it is easier to communicate with Italian people and to understand their daily habits. In the afternoon you can do your homework given to you by the teachers and there are also activities and excursions, all in Italian, that you can do with your classmates.
How do I pay for the course?
Together with the enrolment form, send 150 euros as a deposit for the course and 150 euros as a deposit for accommodation (if requested). The deposit will be subtracted from the total payment. The deposit, made payable to Rimini Academy, can be paid in the following ways: postal transfer, bank transfer or Paypal. The deposit must be free of any expenses. The payment must arrive before the start of the course or, at the latest, it is possible to pay on the day of arrival, in cash or by credit card. After having received the payment and the enrolment form Rimini Academy will send you: confirmation of registration, the address of your accommodation (two weeks before your arrival) and other useful information regarding your stay.
How do I cancel a booking?
A student who intends to cancel their enrolment must inform Rimini Academy as soon as possible. If the cancellation is made at least 30 days before the start of the course, the deposit will be completely reimbursed. Any cancellation made after this time or if the student does not present himself/herself at school, no refund will be given. No refund will be given if the student interrupts the course or misses some hours of lessons. Rimini Academy reserves the right, having given timely communication, to alter the prices of courses; this can happen in cases where it is not possible to reach the minimum number of participants (three students in each class). On national holidays lessons are suspended and are non refundable. On arrival at school it is not possible to change the chosen course.
Will I receive a refund?
Yes, if you want to cancel your enrolment and you cancel at least 30 days before the start of the course, the deposit will be completely refunded: any cancellation made after this time or if the student does not present himself/herself at school, no refund will be given.
Do I need to pay extra for the textbooks?
From this year the cost of a textbook (one volume) is included in the enrolment fee (50 euros) which is compulsory for all students, the second textbook has to be paid seperately.
